Ich möchte euch hier mal den 2016 neu erscheinenden Titel "Oriental Empires" von Iceberg Interactive vorstellen. Das Interessante daran ist aus meiner Sicht vor allem das Setting (Antikes China) als auch die daran beteiligten Personen. Es sind nämlich ehemalige Designer und Project Directors von CA und der Total War Reihe (Medieval 2) daran beteiligt. Graphisch sieht das Ganze sehr nett aus, wie ich finde und erinnert mich ein wenig an einen Klon aus TW und Civ. Ich denke das könnte eine vielversprechende Sache für Leute mit Interesse an diesem Setting werden.
ZitatOriental Empires ist ein rundenbasiertes Globalstrategiespiel, in dem es um den Aufbau einer Zivilisation im alten China geht. Das Spiel soll die Zeit zwischen ca. 1.500 vor Chr. bis 1.500 nach Chr. möglichst realistisch nachzeichnen - samt nahtloser und detaillierter Karte, die auch die Mongolei umfasst. Insgesamt 16 verschiedene Fraktionen mit eigenen Stärken und Schwächen sollen zur Auswahl stehen. Die Siedlungen der ausgewähnten Fraktion dürfen dann mit Gebäuden und Gelände-Erweiterungen verbessert werden. Abseits von Handel, Forschung (Militär, Kultur, Philosophie und Religion), Diplomatie und Edikten wird es groß angelegte Schlachten mit Tausenden von Soldaten auf einer Karte geben. Infanterie, Kavallerie, Streitwagen, Artillerie und See-Einheiten dürfen befehligt werden. Formationen soll man ebenfalls festlegen können. Ob die Schlachten in Echtzeit oder ebenfalls im Rundenmodus stattfinden werden, lässt sich der Pressemitteilung nicht zweifelsfrei entnehmen - obgleich die Screenshots eher nach Echtzeit-Kämpfen aussehen.
Geleitet wird die Entwicklung von R.T. Smith und John Carline, die in der Vergangenheit u.a. an Total-War-Titeln als Project Director & Lead Designer (Medieval 2) respektive Lead Artist (Medieval 2) gearbeitet haben. Iceberg Interactive wird das 4X-Strategiespiel weltweit für PC veröffentlichen. Im Sommer soll es als Early-Access-Titel via Steam an den Start gehen.
